Robert Keith Hooker was born Bob and Lucille Hooker on January 31, 1942 at Walters, OK and departed this life in Norman, OK on January 2, 2014 at the age of 71 years, 11 months and 2 days. On February 29, 1960, Keith and Jewell Dean Roberts were married in Walters. To this union three children were born, Robert, Julie, and Elizabeth. He told Dean many times that "We've got some good kids." Keith attended school at Walters and graduated in 1960 from Walters High School. He worked for Cotton Electric Cooperative for 35 years, retiring in 1995. Keith farmed for more than 40 years and loved getting out on cold winter mornings to feed the cattle. He was owner of several race horses and loved horse racing with a passion. Keith served on the Santa Rosa Telephone Board, acting as chairman for several years and also sat on the Cotton Electric Roundup Charitable Board. Keith worked hard and expected the same from those around him. He liked grabbing that quick nap in the afternoons. He also liked to "play." Keith loved going to the casino, going every December to the National Finals Rodeo, going to racetracks to watch his horses, and loved the monthly Sunday dinners with all the kids around. Keith also loved his church and church family, Union Valley Baptist Church at Cookietown, where his secret charity work went unknown by many. Keith lived a full and happy life. He may not be with us anymore, but he will live on in the hearts of his family and his dear close friends for years to come. Survivors include his wife Dean of the home; a son, Robert Hooker and wife Susie of Devol; 2 daughters, Julie and husband Marc Kyle of Lawton, OK, Elizabeth and Scott Crew of Cookietown, OK; 5 grandchildren, Mandi, Tyler, Dylan, Brandi and Macy; 1 great grandchild, Molly; a brother, John Hooker and wife Karen of Walters; 2 sisters, Avanell Ballard of Walters, and Becky Wilcox and husband Tom of Carrollton, GA; other relatives and many friends.
