Freddie Jim Houston was born to Fred Stewart and Opal Pearl (Lowe) Houston on October 23, 1939 at Ringling, OK and departed this life in Oklahoma City on December 19, 2013 at the age of 74 years, 1 month and 26 days. Freddie grew up at Walters. He married Betty Lou Thompson on May 19, 1959 at First Baptist Church in Walters. They immediately moved to California where Freddie worked as a liaison for Kraft Foods until landing assistant manager job with the Hunt Company. After 9 years in California they returned to Walters and he went to work as a part time rural carrier for the Postal Service. He eventually transferred to fulltime carrier job in Lawton. The couple moved to Stillwater in 1989 and then onto Edmond where he worked as a nursing home maintenance supervisor. Upon retirement he and Betty made their home at Marlow in 2001. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Walters. Freddie loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed observing wildlife and watching TV, especially John Wayne movies, pawn shop and wilderness shows. He also enjoyed cooking and had his specialties. He was truly a people person and loved to visit. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Opal. Survivors include his wife, Betty, of the home; 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael and Beverly Houston, and Richard Houston all of Marlow, OK; 3 sisters and their spouses, Barbara and Gail Burton of Benton, AR, Linda and Wendell Cromwell, Mary Ann and Glen Albin all of Walters, OK; 2 grandchildren, Suzanne Dodd and husband Brian of Duncan, OK, Trent Houston and wife Brittney of Marlow, OK; 4 great grandchildren, Landen and Hayden Dodd, Wyatt and Kade Houston; other relatives and a host of friends.
