Vivian Annie (Turner) Barbe was born to John Presley and Mary Alice (Thompson) Turner on February 23, 1921 at the Stanfield Ranch, Cashion, TX and departed this life in Temple, OK on December 15, 2013 at the age of 92 years, 9 months and 22 days. Vi grew up west of Walters. She attended Pecan Grove School where she met Leroy Athel Barbe, Jr., whom she married on July 10, 1937. The couple made their home in the West Cache Community until moving to Comanche, OK in 1947, but would return to make their home at Walters in 1957. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Walters. She had a passion for books and reading, especially her Bible. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and gardening, both vegetables and flowers. She was always interested in history and geography, and was very observant anytime she traveled remembering each and every detail. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leroy in 2000; a daughter, Betty Ann Beam; an infant brother, John Presley Turner, Jr.; 3 sisters, Barbara Webb, Dora Allen Milwood and Sammie Briley; and 3 grandchildren, Donnie Beam, Delaina Stapp and Brent Barbe. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Elaine Barbe of Kemmerer, Wy; 2 sons and spouses, Wayne Roy Barbe and Marie of Lawton, OK, Cliff Earl and Jan Barbe of Geronimo, OK; a son-in-law, Don Beam of Euless, TX; 9 grandchildren and spouses, Ladonna Ballas, Rusty Beam, Billy Ray Beam, Bobby Lynn Beam and Kelly, Tammy Adams and Bob, Betty Collins and George, Charli Taylor, Stephanie Holder, Angi Lipscomb and Micah; 34 great grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
