Edith Evelyn (Recer) Urice was born to James Franklin and Ida Mae(Striplin) Recer on November 23, 1920 west of Hulen, OK and departed this life in Lawton, OK, on December 2, 2013 at the age of 93 years and 9 days. Edith grew up west of Hulen and graduated from Lawton High School. She married Harold Donald Urice on June 10, 1939 and they made their home south of Hulen for many years. Harold preceded her in death on January 27, 1998 and Edith soon moved to Walters where she lived until making her home at The Village on Lee Retirement Center in 2004. She was a homemaker, a great cook and pie maker, and always had a large garden. She was a longtime member of the Sunshine Home Extension Club and the Hulen United Methodist Church until moving to Walters where she was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 7 brothers, B.W., Sherley, Fred, J.D., Clyde, Don and Jim Recer; and 2 sisters, Ethel Bolin and Elsie Hilbert. Survivors include 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Chester Phillips of Geronimo, OK, Jan and Brent Crow of Comanche, OK; 4 grandchildren, Craig Phillips of Geronimo, Dawna Schettler and husband Greg of Sterling, OK, Brandon Crow and wife Jaime of Norman and Cody Crow of Comanche; 4 great grandchildren, Austin, Taylor, Jordan and Blazey; other relatives and friends.
