Ida Lee "Granny" Valdez was born to Samuel and Edith (Poco) Tabbytosavit on April 8, 1931, west of Walters, OK and departed this life in Lawton, OK on November 20, 2013 at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 12 days. Ida grew up in the Emerson Community west of Walters. She married Willington Valdez in January of 1949. They made their home south of Walters until moving to town in 1968. She was employed for many years as a seamstress at the Haggar Slacks Factory in Temple where she also owned Ida's Wash House. She later worked at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in housekeeping and then did home caregiving for several people in the Walters community. Ida grew up attending church at Emerson Nazarene. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and visiting with family and friends. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1980; her parents; her daughter, LaVada Wauqua; 4 brothers, Jimmy, Nelson "Shorty", Sherman "Butch" and Floyd; 6 sisters, Opal, Wanda, Thelma "Troubles", Daisy, Ardeana, Ophelia; and also a special Niece, Cindy Veach. Survivors include a daughter, LaDonna Griffin of Walters; a son, Coop Valdez and Rene of Walters; a sister, Mamie Nava of Walters; 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
