Pat Spanhanks, 66, of Walters, OK Funeral services at First Baptist Church, Walters, Monday, October 7 at 10:00 a.m. with burial in the Walters Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Patricia Kay Spanhanks was born to Buster Lynn and Thelma Berneice (Gibson) Spanhanks on June 8, 1947 at Sawyer, OK and departed this life on October 4, 2013 in Walters, OK at the age of 66 years, 3 months and 26 days. Pat lived at Farris, OK until the age of 4 or 5, when the family moved to Wichita Falls, TX. They eventually moved to Walters while Pat was in Jr. High and she attended Walters High School. As a young lady she worked at the Walters Drive-in Theatre,Thompson Theatre, the Walters Nursing Home as an aide and was also employed at the Haggar slacks factory in Temple. She went on to receive her license as an Electrical Tech, LPN and Surgical Tech all from Red River Technology Center in Duncan. To the union of Pat and Larry Durbin 4 daughters were born. She made her home in Walters but for a time in Bakersfield, CA and later Duncan, OK. Through the years Pat worked at Comanche County Memorial Hospital as a Surgical Tech, Parkview Manor Nursing Home, Personal Touch Home Health and Temple Manor all as an LPN. She was a member of Emerson Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, baking, gardening, and traveling the U.S. and Europe with Glendel Copeland. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Betty Spanhanks Parker; and brothers, Wayne Lynn and Robert Spanhanks. Survivors include 4 daughters, Elicia Lizarraga of Spring, TX, Stephanie Graves of Little Elm, TX, Judy Simpson of Blanchard, OK and Sheila Durbin of Thomas, OK; 2 sisters, Janice Bruton and husband David, and Sheila Spanhanks all of Walters; 2 aunts, Johnnie Meeker and Ruth Fuller; 10 grandchildren, Aaron, Amberlie, Andy, Stesha, Matt, Amanda, Jeremiah, Sarah, Jonathan and Isaac; 6 great grandchildren, Presley, Kody, Shelby, Danny, Kylie and Patrick; many other relatives and a host of friends.
