Farris Dell Lindsey was born to Farris Aurell and Opal Marie (Patterson) Lindsey on August 1, 1941 at Lawton, OK and departed this life in Walters, OK, on September 27, 2013 at the age of 72 years, 1 month and 26 days. Farris grew up in Lawton, graduating from Lawton High School in 1959. He joined the United States Army, serving his country in both the Army and Army Reserve. He married Mary Arlene Langford on April 8, 1961at Lawton. Farris went to work for the Electrical Union, first completing a four year electrical apprenticeship school, and then becoming a licensed journeyman with local union 590 before moving to Oklahoma City's local union 114. He retired from the Electrical Union after 20 years and moved the family to Walters. He soon went back to work for 23 more years as an electrician at Fort Sill for Civil Service. Eleven of those years were with the Fort Sill Fire Department as an Alarm Technician. He retired in 2007. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Walters. In his free time Farris enjoyed teaching his sons sports and watching them participate. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, swimming and horses. He was preceded in death by his parents; a niece, Telisa Smith; and a nephew, James Ray Lindsey. Survivors include his wife, Mary, of the home; 3 sons, Daniel Aurell Lindsey of Walters, Michael Lee Lindsey and wife Tracy of Walters, John Paul Lindsey and Michelle of Elgin, OK; 2 brothers, Ronnie James Lindsey of Oklahoma City, Steve Lindsey and wife Lynn of Rush Springs, OK; 2 sisters, Connie Davis of Marlow, OK, Marcia Frank and husband Wally of Yukon, OK; 2 brothers-in-law, Robert and Paul Langford of Walters; 6 granddaughters, Jacie, Jenna, Lexie and Avery Lindsey of Walters, Lexie Baker and Adley Lindsey of Elgin, OK; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
