Hervey Lynn "Herkie" Yarbrough was born to Roy Oscar and Marie Wahkahquah Yarbrough on May 12, 1937 at Lawton, OK and departed this life in Wichita Falls, TX on September 7, 2013 at the age of 76 years, 3 months and 26 days. Herkie grew up at Faxon, OK and Los Angeles, CA. He has lived in various towns across the country, living in Cody, Wyoming for a time before settling back in the Faxon area in the early to mid 90's. He has made his home in Walters since 1998 and went to work for Comanche Star Casino around 2000. He eventually transferred to Red River Casino where he worked in Maintenance. Through the years Herkie also did tile work, swimming pools, was a mechanic, ran a car wash, was a truck driver and was a hunting guide in Wyoming. He was a devoted Christian man and a member of Deyo Baptist Church. He enjoyed watching the news on TV, as well as, football and sports in general. He enjoyed restoring cars, playing with his dogs and eating cookies and ice cream with granddaughter Rhilee. He was a people person and loved flirting with the ladies. He always had a piece candy to give away. Survivors include his son Hank Yarbrough and companion, Ashlyn Bell, of Walters; his daughter, Sherri Reynolds of Grass Valley, CA; a brother, David Lee Wahkaquah and wife, Norma of Lawton; a sister, Alicia Ellis of Kansas City, MO; his granddaughter, Rhilee Monroe Yarbrough, of Walters; 4 nieces, Julie Ellis Mylius of Berlin, Germany, Yvette Ellis Thomas of Lebanon, TX, Dana Lee Wahkahquah Martin and Amy Jo Wahkahquah Carr both of Oklahoma City; a nephew, Joel David Wahkahquah of Warrant Acres, OK; many cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.
