John and Floyace both passed away of natural causes under hospice care at their home in Edmond, OK, Friday evening, August 9, 2013. JOHN DENNIS RUSH, JR. was born on September 23, 1930, and passed from this life on August9, 2013; at the age of 82 years, 10 months and 16 days. John was the oldest child of John Dennis Rush, Sr. and Pearl Elizabeth Thomas Rush, of Philadelphia, MS. Both parents preceded John in death. Also, John's two sisters, Mary Ann Rush Morgan and Martha Jean Rush Fulton; and his brother, Joseph Christopher Rush, Sr., all preceded John in death. John graduated from Longino High School in Philadelphia, MS in 1948. Also in 1948, John began 38 years of employment with the Sherwin-Williams Paint Company. John retired from Sherwin-Williams in 1986 after advancing to the position of Store Manager of their largest retail store in Mississippi. During his years at SWP, John received much recognition of honor for his achievements and sales excellence. John served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1951 through 1955. He achieved the rank of Airman First Class and was awarded the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. John was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Lawton, OK, and the American Legion in Jackson, MS for over 50 years. John was a communicant of Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edmond, OK and was a Charter Communicant of Saint Therese Parish in Jackson, MS. On February 5, 1955, John married Letha Floyace Grimes and they were blessed with two children, John Michael Rush of Edmond, OK and Angelia Marie Rush McDaniel of Bixby, OK. After retiring from SWP, John and Floyace moved to Temple, OK to be near her parents and also their children. John loved to spend his time gardening and keeping up the old Waller Home Place farm. By only minutes, John preceded his wife of 58 years, Floyace, in death. Survivors are John's son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Kathe Rush, of Edmond, OK; and his daughter and son-in-law, Angelia and Tim McDaniel, of Bixby, OK. There are four grandchildren, Calvin Rush, Connie Hensy and Cassi Rush - all of Edmond, OK; and Savanah McDaniel, of Bixby, OK. There are also three great-grandchildren, Olivia Rush,Calvin Rush, Jr. and Andrew Rush - all of Carver, MA. LETHA FlOYACE GRIMES RUSH, born January 10, 1932, and passed from this life August 9,2013; at the age of 81 years, 6 months and 30 days. Floyace was the only child of Andrew John Grimes and Ella Savanah Waller Grimes. Both parents preceded Floyace in death. Floyace graduated from Temple High School in 1950. She attended Cameron College in Lawton, OK for a short time. She became a Civil Service employee at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, TX in 1952. Floyace worked 10 years in Civil Service, continuing her career after she and John moved to Mississippi. She was employed by the United States Army Reserves, and the Soil Conservation State Office in Jackson, MS. Floyace left Civil Service work and became employed by the Sherwin-Williams Paint Company District Office for 10 years as the District Secretary. February 5, 1955, Floyace and John Dennis Rush, Jr. were joined in Holy Matrimony. To this union two children were born; John Michael Rush and Angelia Marie Rush McDaniel. In July 1955, John and Floyace moved to Jackson, MS from Wichita Falls, TX. Here, they made their home until 1988 when they moved to Temple, OK to be near Floyace's parents due to the Grimes' failing health. Floyace became a Christian at the age of 10 years, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Temple, OK. Floyace was preceded in death, by only minutes, by her husband of 58 years, John. Survivors indude her son, Michael and his wife, Kathe, of Edmond, OK; and also her daughter, Angelia and her husband, Tim, of Bixby, OK. Floyace has four grandchildren, Calvin Rush, Connie Hensy and Cassi Rush - all of Edmond, OK; and Savanah McDaniel of Bixby, OK. Floyace also has three great-grandchildren, Olivia Rush, Calvin Rush, Jr. and Andrew Rush - all of Carver, MA.
