Margaret Florence Price Bradley

MARGARET PRICE BRADLEY Margaret Florence Price Bradley was born to Henry "Big Tree" Price and Blanche Vaught Price on December 4, 1918, in Fort Worth, Texas. Mrs. Bradley passed away on June 12, 2013, at her home in Waurika, Oklahoma, at the age of 94 years. Mrs. Bradley grew up on the Price Ranch in Addington, Oklahoma, graduating from Addington High School. She attended college at the University of Oklahoma and later graduated from the University of Wyoming. She was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. Not long after graduation she married William Duncan "Bill" Bradley on September 21, 1941, in Addington, Oklahoma. She met Bill several months prior at the Fort Worth Fat Stock Show. She and Bill moved during his tours in the Army Air Corps eventually living in Frederick, Oklahoma, until the war's end. With the war over they settled in Fife, Texas, on the Bradley Ranch and she began a long career as a wife, mother, community leader and rancher. Ultimately relocating to Waurika while maintaining holdings in Texas and Oklahoma, Mrs. Bradley devoted herself to raising her family and building her community. She was a 65 year member of the First Christian Church in Waurika serving for 30 years as secretary-treasurer of the church and a dedicated Sunday School teacher. While Bill served in the legislature Mrs. Bradley stayed at home and was actively involved in her children's activities. She also found time to be involved in civic activities. They included the Jefferson County Hospital Auxiliary, Helping Hands, Red River Performing Arts, board member of the Waurika Housing Authority, Waurika Depot Committee, and advisor to the Jefferson County Committee of the Farm Services Agency. She was a member of "Ohoyohoma", the organization for the spouses of the Oklahoma legislature. Additionally, she was a life time member of the Waurika Sorosis Club and Bridge Club. At one time Mrs. Bradley also was co-owner of Pat's Dress Shop. Mrs. Bradley traveled the globe extensively with her grandchildren and various other traveling companions. Mrs. Bradley loved ranching and was an innovative steward of the land. She was a true lady who unselfishly and unassumingly gave so much of her time, energy and resources to others of all ages. She was a strong supportive wife and partner and a respected and admired servant-leader of her fellow citizens. She was the cherished center of a family who adored her. Her guidance in life will long be remembered by those who were the recipients of such. She is preceded in death by her husband, mother and father, brothers, John Henry Price, George V. Price, James L. Price and Robert G. Price. She is survived by her son, Henry P. "Hank" Bradley and his wife, Terry, and her daughter Patricia Scott and her husband, Phillip. She is survived by eight grandchildren, Andrea Bradley Smith and husband, Sean, of Charlotte, North Carolina, Margaret Nicole Scott of Alexandria, Virginia, H. Chad Bradley and wife, Amy Ford Bradley, of Alexandria, Virginia, Brad Scott and wife, Elizabeth, of Waurika, Oklahoma, Justin B. Scott of Waurika, Oklahoma, and Joshua Bradley and wife, Courtney, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Also Brie Dorr and her husband, Christopher, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Lee Messing and her husband, Michael, of Denver, Colorado, and eleven great-grandchildren, Crane, Ryan and Olivia Smith, Emma, Cate and Tess Bradley, Lodge and Houston Scott, Price and Cooper Bradley, and Ellington Dorr. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A private burial service will be held at the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home preceding the memorial service which will be Saturday, June 15, 2013, at 3:00 o'clock p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Waurika. Visitation will be at the family home in Waurika on Friday from 10:00 o'clock a.m. until 9:00 o'clock p.m. Also on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 o'clock p.m. A special thanks to Mrs. Bradley's caretaker, Johnnie Beattie, and to Mary Bernard for her assistance.
