Lois Anthony "Zack" Zachary was born to Peter Allen and Mary "Burton" Zachary on April 15, 1918 in the Union Valley Community near Randlett, Okla. He attended Union Valley school, graduating in 1938. After graduation, he took over operation of the family farm and also worked at the Randlett cotton gin and elevator, which he managed throughout much of the early 1950's. In 1956, he was asked to move to Walters, Okla. to manage the farmers elevator. In 1962, he moved his family to Wichita Falls. Upon the move to Wichita Falls, he began working at the Conoco Refinery and did so until it closed, when he transferred to the Pipeline Division and worked as a gauger until he retired on April 15, 1980. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Virgil and Ray; two nephews, Kenneth and Ricky Zachary; one grandson, Tony Mahan; and one great granddaughter, Journey Prouty. Zack married the love of his life, Mary Marie "Pete" Brooks, whom he fell for in junior high school, on February 26, 1941. She remained his loving wife for over 72 years. He is survived by his wife of the home; his two daughters, Peggy Mahan and Janet Abbe, both of Wichita Falls; four grandchildren, Christie Abbe Prouty of Wichita Falls, Garner Mahan and wife Lauren of Keller, Texas; Brent Abbe of Wichita Falls, and Lisa Mahan Williams and husband Brad of Prosper, Texas; 14 great-grandchildren, Dakota, Tony, Madison and Levi Prouty, Landry and Holly Mahan, Casey, Brandon, Joshua Jordan and Zachary Abbe, and Shelby, Reese, Kendall and Burk Williams. He was called "Uncle Lois" by many nieces and nephews. His interest was first his church, where he taught junior boys Sunday school class, served as an usher and was on the senior adult counsel. He was an often sought-after partner at 42 night at the church. His other interests were camping, playing 42, fishing, going to garage sales and trading. He loved people and lived life to the fullest. Those whom were fortunate to meet him will remember him forever. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Presbyterian Good Samaritan Fund, or to the charity of your choice.
