Joseph Douglas "Joe" Kohutek was born to Frank Frederick and Clara Albina (Kamenicky) Kohutek, October 13, 1922 at Cameron, TX and departed this life at Walters, OK, April 5, 2013, at the age of 90 years, 5 months and 23 days. Joe grew up in Cotton County southwest of Cookietown, OK and attended Union Valley School. He joined the United States Coast Guard, serving his country honorably for 4 years during WWII. He married Eddie Mae Edmonds on July 5, 1946 at Wichita Falls, TX. They lived on the farm for a year before moving to Compton, California, where Joe was employed by Firestone Tire Company for 20 years before returning to Cotton County to farm in 1968. They moved to Walters in 1975 and he was employed by the City of Walters driving the garbage truck until retiring at age 65. Joe was a member of First Baptist Church in Walters. He enjoyed playing solitaire, gardening, farming and had to have his snuff. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Albin and Frank Kohutek; and a sister Ella Emerson. Survivors include his wife, Eddie Mae, of the home; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Susan Kohutek of Midway, UT, Doug and Susanne Kohutek of Willow Park, TX; 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Richard Aldahl of Pagosa Springs, CO, Devryl Lynn and Buzzy Ginn of Cuchara, CO, Donna and Fred Zweiacker of Devol, OK; 8 grandchildren, Casie Kirby, Scott Kohutek, Jodi Kohutek, Monica Hilberg, Chris Kohutek, Michael Zweiacker,Mark Zweiacker and Kelly Johnson; 3 great grandchildren, Tyler Burrell, Kameron Kohutek and Parker Kohutek; other relatives and many friends.
