Denise Elaine Tunnell

Denise Elaine (Phillips) Tunnell was born to Arthur H. and Willie Violet (Magee) Phillips on April 22, 1961 at Lawton, OK and departed this life in Lawton on March 1, 2013 at the age of 51 years, 10 months and 7 days. Elaine grew up at Walters, OK, graduating in the Class of 1979. She married Samuel C. Tunnell, Jr. on July 8, 1987 at Wichita Falls, TX and they made their home in Walters. She graduated from Platt College in 2004 as an LPN and began working in various Lawton Nursing Homes. In 2006 she and Sam moved to Duncan and then onto Oklahoma City in 2007 and back to Walters in 2012. She has been employed as an LPN at Ranchwood Nursing Home in Yukon, OK, since December of 2007. Elaine enjoyed taking care of people and spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Sam, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Stefan Allen of Walters; 2 sons, Shane and Brant Tunnell both of Walters; 6 brothers and sisters and their spouses, Kenneth Phillips of Temple, OK, Keith Phillips of Carnegie, OK, Ricky and Riśe Phillips of Springtown, TX, twin sister Delaine and Terry Sansome of Burkburnett, TX, Tommy Phillips of Madill, OK, Johnny and Kay Phillips of Carnegie, OK; 3 grandchildren, Samuel, Haylei and Ryley Allen of Walters; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister-in-law, Gayla Phillips.
