Fern Stone

Blanche Mae Fern (Stevenson) Stone was born April 23, 1914, in Walters to E.L. "Jim" Stevenson and Sarah Jane Phillips Stevenson and departed this life Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, in San Antonio, Texas. Fern was raised in Walters and graduated from Walters High School. She married Marvin Rogers in 1932 and they had a son, Noel Gene Rogers. The couple divorced in 1935. She later worked at the J.C. Jones Co. in Walters where she met and later married Alfred H. Stone on May 9, 1937. They moved to Lawton in 1942. She managed the Parisian Department Store shoe department for 24 year and retired in 1979. She moved to San Antonio, Texas, in 1998, to be close to her son and her grandchildren. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Noel Gene Rogers and Doris Ann, San Antonio, Texas; two grandchildren, Mark Rogers and wife, Donna, and Terri Clarac and husband, Edward; two extra special great-grandchildren: Lee Clarac and Sarah Rogers; sister and brother-in-law, JoAnne Daugherty and Gene, Midland, Texas; several nieces, nephews, great-nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alfred.
