Billy Hugh Bean was born to James Hugh and Grace Lophene (Oller) Bean on June 17, 1930 at Temple, OK and departed this life in Temple on January 17, 2013 at the age of 82 years and 7 months. Bill grew up southeast of Temple attending Pleasant Valley School before going to Temple Schools, graduating from THS in 1949. Bill served his country honorably in the Korea as a sergeant in the US Army. He married Virginia Rosetta Spivey on May 21, 1955 at Graham, TX and to the union two sons were born. Bill did oilfield service work for Halliburton for 37 years, serving as Assistant Superintendant at Eunice, NM and Andrews, TX before serving as Technical Advisor at Midland, TX. Since retiring he has enjoyed spending time on his farm, the creek and pecan orchard, as well as going to yard sales collecting artifacts. He is a member of The River Assembly of God, Burkburnett, TX. Bill was preceded in death by a son, Billy David Bean and later his wife Virginia Bean on May 8, 2001. He later married Merlene (Rylant) Bentley on November 30 2002 at Temple, OK. He and Merlene enjoy spending time together at their home in town and on farm. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty Newsom. Survivors include his wife Merlene of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Monty and Pamela Bean of Plains, TX; a sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Vernie Henderson of Grapevine, TX; a brother-in-law, Don Newsom of Temple; a step-daughter, Carol Beth Bentley of Lawton, OK; a stepson and his wife, Mickey and Karen Bentley of Rosebud, AR; 3 grandchildren Jordan, Payton and Jaxon Bean; several step-grandkids, B.J. Hancock, Monica Timperio, Greg and Angie Mix, Tracy and Samantha Hudspeth; step-great grandkids, Tyler and Brady Timperio, Jeff Mix, Garrett and Addison Hudspeth; a step-great great grandson, Connor Mix; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
