Opal Louise Hardin

November 14, 1930 — December 28, 2012

Opal Louise (Avens) Hardin was born to William Newton and Susie (Cooper) Avens on November 14, 1930, north of Temple, OK and departed this life in Temple on December 28, 2012 at the age of 82 years, 1 month and 14 days. Opal grew up at Temple, graduating in 1949. She married Troy D Hardin on September 7, 1950 at Henrietta, TX and to the union 3 children were born. Opal began working at Baker's Laundry and eventually went to work for Temple Manufacturing in 1956. She stayed with the company until it closed in 1991. She and the entire household also delivered the Lawton Constitution to Temple residents for 20 years and for a short time also delivered the Times Record News. Opal was a member of the Church of Christ in Temple. She enjoyed reading, gardening, canning, crossword puzzles, watching baseball on TV and watching the grandkids play ball. She also enjoyed cooking and feeding anyone that came by the house. She loved her grandkids and great grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Troy; and 3 brothers. Survivors include 3 children, Ella Taylor of Temple, Joe Hardin of Hurst, TX, Anita Hartman of Temple and their spouses; 4 grandchildren, Terri Hooper of Temple, Jodie Cargile of Ringling, OK, Jon Kinder of Temple, Jeremy Kinder of Granite and their spouse; 9 great grandchildren, 3 brothers, a sister, other relatives and many friends.
