Lester Lorn Calhoun, Jr. was born to Lester Lorn and Laura (Frost) on June 3, 1931 at Wilmington, IL and departed this life in Wichita Falls, TX on December 20, 2012 at the age of 81 years, 6 months and 17 days. Lester grew up one of sixteen children. As a young man he joined the United States Air Force, serving his country honorably as an electronics technician during his 20 plus year career. He retired while stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base and soon went to work for Civil Service as an electronics technician for the U.S. Navy. Lester married Marguerite Ann "Peggy" Christian on November 11, 1962 at Fort Worth, TX. The family moved around with the military and eventually settled at Wichita Falls in 1977. Through the years Lester enjoyed working on cars, boating, camping and traveling. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Peggy; 3 brother, Raymond, Robert and Harold Calhoun; and 2 sisters, Dorothy Prouty and Genevieve Scherer. Survivors include a son, Lester L. Calhoun, III and wife Rosie of Wichita Falls; a daughter, Mardee Calhoun of Wichita Falls; 2 grandchildren, Lee Post and Cameron Calhoun both of Wichita Falls; 4 brothers, David, Larry, Roger, and Gary Calhoun; 6 sisters, Rosemary Clark, Jeanette White, Beverly Mansfield, Gloria Stern, Phyllis Gaines and Delores Volkert; many other relatives and friends.
