George Allen Epp was born to Peter P. and Eleanor Magdalena (Hembel) Epp on July 17, 1931 at Shattuck, OK and departed this life on October 26, 2012, at his home in Walters, at the age of 81 years, 3 months and 9 days. George came to Walters with his family as a young boy. They settled on a farm east of town and he attended South Mountain View School. George married LaNell Carlile on June 17, 1950 at Henrietta, TX and they made their home in Walters. George retired from Cotton Electric after a 35 year career working his way up to top of the linemen. Since retiring he has spent the rest of his life actively farming. He enjoyed raising cattle, wheat farming, going to the Gulf, fishing, playing hearts, chicken foot, chess and various other games. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Walters. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harold Epp; and 2 sisters, Mary Jean (Epp) Rome and Evelyn (Epp) Dorton. Survivors include his wife LaNell Epp; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Vanessa Epp of Crowley, TX, Randy and Vicki Epp of Deer Park, TX; a daughter and son-in-law, Loretta and Richard Hardin of Temple, OK; 4 grandchildren, Craig Allen Epp of Arlington, TX, Emily Ann Epp of Deer Park, TX, Will Hardin and wife Laura of Temple, and Georgeann Fisher and husband Dale of Lawton; 2 great grandchildren, Troy Hardin and Madison Fisher; other relatives and many friends.
