Russell Lee Shelby

Russell Lee Shelby was born to Benjamin F. and Carrie (Ingram) Shelby on September 11, 1927 at Randlett, OK and departed this life in Las Cruces, NM on September 27, 2012 at the age of 85 years and 16 days. Russell grew up in the Randlett, Temple and Walters area. Through the years he worked as a truck driver, farmer and oilfield worker. On November 20, 1977, he married Olive (Adair) Garrett and they made their home in Walters. They enjoyed checking the cattle together and were partners in a bird raising operation for 10 years called G and S Aviaries. He was preceded in death by his wife, Olive, in September of 1999 and his son, Matt Shelby, in December of 2001. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Roberta and Michael Crisp of Las Cruces, N.M; and 2 grandsons, Curtis and Cedric; other relatives and a host of friends.
