Alva Lois (McDonnell) Johnson Hewitt was born to Claude Edward and Viola (Mann) McDonnell on September 14, 1924 at Temple, OK and departed this life in Temple, OK on September 12, 2012 at the age of 87 years 11 months and 29 days. Lois grew up at Temple. She married William Morris Johnson, to the union 3 children were born and they made their home in Walters. She moved to Lawton in 1974 and married James Don "J.D." Hewitt who preceded her in death just a month later. Lois had worked at the Haggar factory in Temple before going to work as a Photo Lab Tech for Civil Service at Fort Sill. Upon retiring in 1987 she moved to Burkburnett where she lived until 2006, moving back to Lawton and eventually Walters. Lois was a member of Cameron Baptist Church in Lawton. She enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with family. Along with her husband she was also preceded in death by 2 daughters, LaDonna Williams in 2009 and Irene Jackson in 2010; 3 brothers, Henry, C.E. and Clyde "Huck" McDonnell; 2 sisters, Eva Ross and Ann Groves. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Carolyn Johnson of Walters; a sister, Nellie Caver of Fort Worth, TX; 8 grandchildren, Billy Charles and Steve Cameron both of Lawton, Bobby Toquothty of Grandfield, Diane Alden of Tulsa, Denise Hiebert, Jennifer Farris, Kelly Johnson and Sarah Williams all of Walters; 15 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
