Flora Gladys (Eschler) Bowles was born to Gottlieb and Anna Margaret (Steinkoenig) Eschler on February 8, 1922, in the Union Valley Community of Cotton County and departed this life in Temple, OK on July 17, 2012 at the age of 90 years, 5 months and 9 days. Flora grew up in the Union Valley Community near Cookietown. She embraced her six siblings and soon learned family duties and responsibilities along with sports and swimming. She married Benjamin Jones "B.J." Bowles, Jr. in February 1941 at a home in Jefferson County. During WWII they lived in California where B.J. worked as a welder in the shipyards. They soon returned to the Cookietown area where they were engaged in farming and did custom harvesting. She has made her home in Temple since 1963 where she was employed at the Hagger slacks factory for 25 years retiring in 1987. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Temple, serving many years on the food and funeral dinner committees. She excelled at homemaking and caring for family. She enjoyed major league sports, playing rummy and spending time with family and friends. Flora was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Ed, Bill and Dan Eschler; 3 sisters, Ida Kerr, Edna Adams and Ella Watts; and a grandson, Trooper Nik Green. She is survived by 2 daughters, Nita Sue Bowles of Randlett, Jo Anna Bowles and Don Jeffcoat of Lawton; 2 granddaughters, Amanda Coulter and Karen Green both of Lawton, OK; 6 great grandchildren, Cortni Green, Natalie Moore, Brooklyn Green, Sayge Huyssoon, Morgyn Green and Madison Huyssoon; many other relatives and a host of friends.
