Verna Mae Cain

Verna Mae (Copeland) Cain was born to Sidney Richard and Maggie Rachel (Pack) Cain on August 16, 1918 west of Walters, OK and departed this life in Walters on July 6, 2012 at the age of 93 years, 10 months and 20 days. Verna Mae grew up in the oilfields of Oklahoma. She attended school at Capitol Hill in Oklahoma City and also attended beauty school. She married James E. "Jimmie" Cain on April 3, 1943 at Duncan, OK and they made their home at Walters where she worked as a beautician and raised their family of five. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Walters, serving as a nursery worker and worked with the Carillon Choir. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, cooking, sewing and crocheting, playing golf and spending time with the grandkids and great grandkids. She was preceded in death by her husband Jimmie on July 10, 1998; her parents, Sidney and Maggie Copeland; and a brother, Nathaniel Copeland. Survivors include 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Steve Cain of Branson, MO, Doyle and Linda Cain, Bill and Kathy Cain all of Walters; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Charla and Wendall Dedmon, Pamela and Rick Henson all of Walters; 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, Delbert Copeland of Odessa, TX, Royce and June Copeland of Denver, CO, Kenneth and Odessa Copeland of Chickasha, OK; 8 grandchildren and their spouses, Jimmie and Krystal Dedmon, Eric Dedmon, Sidney and Consi Cain, Trent Cain, Chris and Christy Cain, Natalie and Doug Howard, Daffinee and Shaun Padilla, and Clinton Henson; 8 great grandchildren, Christian Dedmon, Calei Cain, Sabree and Ryker Cain, Keller and Hudson Howard, Anthony and Raelee Padilla; 5 step great grandkids, Ashley Geiger, Winston Walters, Chloe Collins, Glory Collins and Noah Collins; best friends Arnold and Mary Hedrick; caregivers, Darla Sanders, Crystal Lee and Edith Kitchen.
