Justice Tillman "J.T." Wyatt was born December 16, 1925 at Lawton, OK and departed this life May 27, 2012 in Pharr, Texas at the age of 86 years, 5 months and 11 days. J.T. lived most of his life in Walters, Oklahoma. As a teenager he began working at Pearson's Funeral Home. In 1969 he became the sole owner and operator of the funeral home and changed the name to Wyatt Funeral Home. He continued to work there and serve the community until he retired in 1984. J.T. was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church of Walters, Oklahoma. He also was a veteran of World War II. He greatly enjoyed civic work, serving terms as president of the Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Clubs. He loved camping, fishing and water skiing and was known for his unique sense of humor. He retired in 1984 and enjoyed his retirement for 28 years by working in his church, driving the bus for vacation Bible school, and traveling in his motor home. In 1997 he and Helen settled into the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas where they joined the First Baptist Church of McAllen. Soon thereafter, J.T. was elected to serve as a deacon where he remained and worked faithfully until his death. J.T. was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Payton and Edith Wyatt; two sisters, Carolyn and Mary Nell; one brother, Payton Jr.; and two children, Jay and Linda. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Helen Jo and their daughter and son-in-law Cheryl and George Fielding of Pharr, TX; three grandsons: Matt Crawford and wife Priscilla of Las Vegas, NV, Joe Tillman Wyatt and John Thomas Wyatt both of Sycamore, IL; his sister Dorothy Landry of Houston, TX; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
