Jimmie Jean (Sutton) Thurman was born to John Perry and Agnes Leona (Taylor) Sutton on January 10, 1928 at Walters, OK and departed this life in Lawton, OK, on April 24, 2012 at the age of 84 years, 3 months and 14 days. Jean grew up at Walters, graduating from Walters High School. At the age of 14 her mother passed away and her older sister Mae Sutton, who was still in school herself, finished raising Jean. She married Jack Joseph Thurman on November 27, 1947 at Walters. They made their home southwest of Walters where they were engaged in farming. Following Jack's death she moved to town in November 1977. She was a member of the Beaver Creek Cowboy Church. She was a farmer's wife and enjoyed canning, sewing, spending her time visiting with family and friends and watching As the World Turns. After moving to town, Jean enjoyed working in the yard and watching birds, especially cardinals. She did home care for a few ladies and loved spending time with and caring for her grandkids and great grandkids. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, on February 20, 1976; her son Ricky Jim Thurman on November 18, 1983; 3 brothers, Arthur "Ike", Maurice "Reece" and Melvin "Tuffy" Sutton; and 3 sisters, Louise Kelsey, Evelyn Ingebritson and Mae Burnaugh. She is survived by 2 sons and their wives, Gary Jack and Sharon Thurman of Walters, Randy Lynn and Robin Thurman of Elgin, OK; 4 grandkids, Dustin Thurman and wife Bridget of Walters, Nic Thurman of Walters, Kelli Pierce and Coffee Ballard; 5 great grandkids, Katie, Makenzie and Nathan Thurman, Pierce and and Traegan Ballard ; many other relatives and friends.
