Richard Ray "Rick" was born to J.V. and Novella Doris (Phillips) Dwyer on April 18, 1944 at Wichita Falls, TX and departed this life in Walters, OK on April 20, 2012 at the age of 68 years and 2 days. Rick grew up west of Walters, OK in the Ahpeatone Community. He attended Ahpeatone and Walters Schools before the family moved to Holliday, TX during his high school years. He married Susie Alvarado on July 12, 1963 at Walters and to the union 3 children were born. They made their home in Wichita Falls for a short time before returning to Walters. Through the years Rick has worked in the oilfield, operated heavy equipment for Bruton Construction, and worked for Cuz Howard and Dale Wampler before opening his own mechanic shop in Walters. He later worked at Goodyear for a short time and also worked on lawnmowers and other small engines. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Walters. He enjoyed working on cars, drag racing, going to swap meets, golfing, watching the grandkids play sports and trading stories with his Happy Stop friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Joe Ellis Dwyer. Survivors include 3 children, Kimberly Dwyer, Pam Brown and husband Gary all of Walters, Jay Dwyer and wife Deena of Roanoke, TX; a brother, Gary Dwyer and wife Judy of Burkburnett, TX; 2 sisters, Sharon Dwyer and Shirley Dwyer both of Iowa Park, TX; 5 grandchildren, MaKenna and Karigan Brown, Patrick, Caleb and Ian Dwyer; other relatives and many friends.
