Lucille Inez Keck

December 3, 1918 — March 27, 2012

Lucille Inez (Daugherty) Keck was bon December 3, 1918, the oldest of 4 children of Addie Mae (Kincheloe) and John Colba Daugherty in Wilson, OK and departed this life in Bethany, OK on March 27, 2012 at the age of 93 years, 3 months and 24 days. Lucille grew up in the oilfield patches of the era, moving frequently as a child. As a teenager she attended Dundee High School in Wirt, OK. On August 21, 1941 she married Dewey Keck in Wilson, OK and later had their only child, Vickie Sue, in 1952. During the war years, they lived in San Diego, CA and afterwards Dewey was transferred by Kewanee Oil Co. to various leases in Oklahoma and Texas. In 1951 they were moved to the Walters lease, making their home in Temple, OK. In 1998, Lucille and Dewey moved to Oklahoma City to be near their daughter. After Dewey's death, Lucille lived at Tealridge Retirement Center, Edmond, OK; the Heritage Assisted Living Center, Yukon, OK; the Quail Creek Nursing Center, OKC; and the Grace Living Center in Bethany, as well as with her family. Over the years she worked various part-time jobs such as a clerk in a drug store, an assistant in a dental office, in the Hagger Slacks Factory, as an Avon Lady, wrapped packages at Christmas for Yeildings and was a companion to the elderly. Her greatest talents were as a homemaker. She was a great cook and could decorate her home well. Lucille also enjoyed crocheting and knitting. As a member of the Church of Christ in Temple, She was very active for many years. She taught children's Bible class, cooked for funerals and the sick, also driving for the elderly. She was always neighborly and enjoyed going downtown on Saturdays to "watch the people." A big tease, she was always laughing and joking with others. Even though she was friendly, she was very shy and a bit of a homebody. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dewey, a baby sister, her brother, Johnny "Sonny," as well as sisters and brothers-in-law on both sides of the family. She is survived by her daughter, Vickie Sue (Keck) Nowlin and son-in-law Norris of Bethany, OK; granddaughter, Crystal Nowlin and fiancé Justin Reed of Alexandria, VA; her sister, Paula Geraldine Naish of El Cajon, CA; her sisters-in-law, Betty Daugherty of Maricopa, AZ and Rose Keck of Healdton, OK; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
