Donald Arthur Tipton was born to Chester Arthur and Lelia Marvis (Taylor) Tipton on December 24, 1935 at Duncan, OK and departed this life at Walters, OK on March 27, 2012 at the age of 76 years, 3 months and 3 days. Don grew up in Temple, OK, Ft. Worth, California, Geronimo, OK and back to Temple where he graduated from THS in the Class of 1953. He attended Cameron College before serving in the US Air Force for 4 years. He then returned to Cameron before deciding to re-enter the military serving 10 years in the US Army. Upon his medical retirement Don returned to Cameron and received his BA in Business Administration. He raised birds for a time before working for Northrop and OAO eventually going to work for Civil Service, retiring after 10 years as a Computer Programmer/Analyst. As senior in high school he was the captain of the football team and through the years has enjoyed hunting and fishing, reading, and playing table and board games. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Temple and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He married Sarah Durrett on February 16, 1980 at Temple. They have made their home east of Walters for the past 31 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marynell Hooper; 2 brothers-in-law, Cecil Ray Fletcher and Buford Durrett. He is survived by his wife, Sarah, of the home; his son, Matthew Tipton of Oklahoma City; a sister, Sylvia Fletcher of Brownwood, TX; his aunt, Annabell Taylor of Temple; 2 brothers-in-law and their wives, Dan and Deanne Durrett of Duncan, Buddy and Gloria Durrett of Houston, TX; 4 nieces and nephews, Keith Fletcher and wife Dawn, Terrie Tharp and husband Doug, Kevin Hooper and Gari Hooper; 7 great nieces and nephews; 4 great-great nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
