Omer Tearl Shipman was born to John Terrell and Lela Vera (Mullins) Shipman on December 1, 1919 in Stephens County, OK and departed this life on March 7, 2012, at Duncan, OK, at the age of 92 years, 3 months and 6 days. Tearl grew up in the Central High Area where he attended school. He married Mildred Bernice McCaig December 15, 1940 at Bethel, OK. They settled in the Empire Community where they raised the kids and Tearl worked as a roustabout in the oilfield. In 1966 they moved in to Duncan where he worked the next 20 years for Western Welding Supply. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, wood working and tinkering with cars. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Darren Dewayne Dungan ; a daughter-in-law, Donna Shipman; and a brother and sister-in-law, Lester and Leona Shipman. Survivors include, his wife Mildred of Duncan; a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Carol Shipman of Walters; a daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Jim Dungan of Duncan; a brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Barbara Shipman of Comanche; 2 grandchildren, Beverly McAlister and husband Randy of Velma, Billy Don Shipman and wife Lana of Lawton; 4 great grandchildren, Joe Lynn Hopkins of Oklahoma City, Derek Hopkins and wife Tia of Phoenix, AZ, Brittni Hopkins of Velma, Lacey Elmore and husband Zeph of Sterling; 1 great great grandson, Hunter Elmore; many other relatives and friends
