Roberta Louise "Bobbie" Welch was born to Robert Isaac and Maud Elizabeth (Oschman) Allen on March 8, 1920, at Nowata, OK and departed this life February 20, 2012, at Oklahoma City, OK, at the age of 91 years, 11 months and 12 days. Bobbie grew up at Walters, graduating from Walters High School in 1938. She attended Oklahoma A & M and Vanderbilt University School of Nursing. She married Lt. John Wesley Welch March 1, 1942 at Walters. After the war they raised their family in Oklahoma City and would later move to New Mexico, Australia, England, The Netherlands and Iran and eventually moved to Houston. Upon retiring in 1981 the couple moved back to Walters. She had worked as a histologic technician for the pathology departments in two hospitals and had helped manage the offices for two doctors. She loved children, serving as Cub Scout and Girl Scout Leader. Bobbie enjoyed sewing, playing Bridge and cooking. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Welch was preceded in death by her husband on May 4, 1997; also, her parents; a brother, Richard I. Allen; and a sister, Margaret Isabelle Cromwell. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Rev. John Allen and Linda Welch of St. Joseph, MO; a daughter and son-in-law, Marcia Lynn and Clayton Hoskinson of Austin, TX, OK; 4 grandchildren, John William of Lubbock, TX, Jason Andrew of Norman, OK, Amanda and husband John, Cory and wife Tiffany all of St. Joseph, MO; 5 great-grandchildren, Zane Alexander, Logan Maxwell, Gavin Lee, Cayden and Alex; other relatives and friends.
