Olga Viola Daniel

February 27, 1917 — December 25, 2011

Olga's family consisting of her mother and father and three older siblings moved from Illinois in 1908 after Oklahoma became a state. Her father had never owned a gun until moving to the wild country. Olga was born on February 27, 1917 to Joseph and Clara Melissa Kirkpatrick Tilley on a farm south of Hulen, Oklahoma. The family moved to Lawton, Oklahoma when Olga was 5. She attended school in Lawton until the Family returned to the farm in 1933. Her best friend Alice Marsh Rippee introduced her to Claud Harry Daniel on July 4, 1935. They were married in the Presbyterian parsonage a few minutes after midnight on Christmas, December 25, 1935. He always said she was his Christmas present. They established a home in Walters, where she lived for the next 76 years. To this union two daughters were born. Claud took her to their heavenly home on Christmas, December 25, 2011, which would have been their seventy-sixth wedding anniversary, from their daughter's home in Walters. He preceded her. in death on New Year's Eve, December 31, 1992 which was their only granddaughter's birthday.. Olga was a homemaker until she and Claud acquired ownership of Daniel's Dairy in 1942. She worked with him everyday doing the chores required of a dairy. During this time she and Claud were members of Dance Clubs, Rodeo Club, Square Dance Clubs, and civic organizations. Olga as a member of the Iris Garden Club, Better Farm Women's club and many other organizations. Olga was a member of the Methodist Church, since she was a child, belonging in Lawton,Hulen and Walters. She was a long-time member of the Alpha Omega Sunday Class and belonged to the United Methodist Women. She was employed by Hewett's Furniture in 1960, working there for many years, while there she received an outstanding sales lady award from Furniture Company's. She was also employed by Collins Drug until she retired in 1979. While employed at Collins Drug she received 1st place for her pioneer costume for the bicentennial in 1976. Olga returned to work for Friendly CIeaners in 1982, where she worked full time until it was closed in 1992. Olga started raising A.K.C. registered pomerians in 1962. She and her family showed her dogs, which were champions, they received many ribbons and trophys at dog shows. She served as judge at some of the local pet shows. This was a business and hobby that she dearly loved. After her first retirement Willie Mae "Bill" Otis recruited her into the Rebekah's of the International Order of Odd Fellows, which she and Claud remained faithful members until their deaths. Olga was a past presiding officer of the Rebekah Lodge, Ladies Encampment Auxiliary and Ladies Auxiliary of the Patriarchs Militant. Olga was Lady President of the Department Association of Oklahoma in 1996-1997. She was a Past District Deputy President of the Rebekah's, a Past District Deputy Grand Matriarch and Past Elected State Warden of the Encampment Auxiliary and Past Inspecting Officer of the Department Association/. She held many state appointments and served on many state committees, while she was active. Olga attended all of the State meetings and many International meetings including ones in Reno, Nevada, Nashville, Tennessee, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Denver, Colorado were a few she attended. Olga was honored with being in the Odd Fellow Delegation that laid a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Solder in Washington D.C. on Memorial Day in 1997. She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn and husband Joe Ferguson of Randlett, Oklahoma and Claudette Daniel and husband Bob Whitney of Walters, Oklahoma. She is survived by grandchildren, Donald Wayne Daniel, Jr. and wife Tonya of Temple and their children, Maegan of Norman, Chelsea of Temple and Randi Adams and her children Jase and Jaxon of Temple. Larry Ferguson and wife Gaye Lei of Randlett and their children Clayton and Caleb of Randlett. David Daniel, Devol, Oklahoma and son, Tyler of Oklahoma City, Daryl Daniel of Hominy, Oklahoma and children Chastity and Cash of Walters, and only granddaughter D'Anna Mallow, and her children Mariah Mata and Axel Mallow, all of Walters. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Oscar Tilley of Marlow, sisters Sylvia Mae Goatley of Pana Illinois and Bertha Maud Urice of Walters, and brother Joseph Edward Tilley of Albuquerque, New Mexico, who was born in Oklahoma like Olga. The family requests that donations be given to the Walters First United Methodist Church or the Randlett United Methodist Church in lieu of flowers.
