LaVada Ruth (Valdez) Wauqua was born to Willington and Ida Lee (Tabbytosavit) Valdez on May 4, 1951 at Lawton Indian Hospital and departed this life on November 30, 2011 at the age of 60 years, 6 months and 26 days. LaVada grew up southwest of Walters and attended school at Temple. She has made Walters her home through the years, working at the Haggar Slacks Factory in Temple until it closed in the early 90's. She then went to work at McDonalds and later at Happy Stop where she cooked for 6 years. Already having 2 sons, she married Woody Wauqua and 2 more sons were born. LaVada enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping and sewing. She would do anything for anyone. She was preceded in death by her father, Willington Valdez; and her grandparents, Sam and Edith Tabbytosavit, Frank and Fern Valdez. She is survived by her mother, Ida Valdez of Walters; her husband, Woody Wauqua of the home; 4 sons, Mike and Mark Long both of Walters, Max Wauqua of Elgin and Willington Wauqua of the home; a sister, LaDonna Griffin of Walters; a brother, Coop Valdez of Lawton; 13 grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
