Carla Ann (Rupe) Miller was born to Kenneth Carl and Betty Ann (Booher) Rupe on August 14, 1957 at New Orleans, LA and departed this life in Oklahoma City, OK on October 12, 2011at the age of 54 years, 1 month and 28 days, after a lengthy battle with breast cancer. Carla grew up at Lawton, OK, since the age of six. She graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1975, completed her Bachelor's degree in 1980 at Southwestern and later received her Master's degree in 2005 from ECU. She married David Edward Miller on June 14, 1975 at Lawton, OK. They traveled with David's job through several states the first year before settling in Binger, OK. They eventually moved to Cement and then on to Fletcher in 1992 where they lived until moving to Walters in 2006. For the past 30 years she worked as a school teacher at Broxton, Cement and Fletcher before working as the counselor at Walters High School for the past 6 years, retiring this past summer. Through the years she served as class sponsor on many occasions, preparing for many proms and other events. She loved her school kids and always had a house full of them. She enjoyed reading and writing, especially for the yearbook, as well as, cooking and sewing. She loved spending time with her grandkids. Carla was an active member of First Baptist Church in Walters serving as a teacher in the Adult I Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Carl Ray Rupe. Survivors include her husband, David of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Jamie Rhoads of Moore, OK; a son and daughter-in-law, Joshua and Jessica Miller of Henrico, VA; her parents, Kenneth and Betty Rupe of Comanche, OK; 2 brother and their wives, Jeff and Brenda Rupe of Marlow, OK, Mark and Fe Rupe of McKinney, TX; 2 grandchildren, Alex and Leighann Rhoads of Moore, OK; her mother-in-law, Coleen Miller of Lawton, OK; other relatives and many friends.
