William Andrew "Andy" Pope was born to William Ernie and Bessie Mae (Gibson) Pope on March 2, 1935 at Geronimo, OK and departed this life in Tulsa, OK, on October 7, 2011 at the age of 76 years, 7 months and 5 days. Andy grew up at Walters, graduating from WHS in 1953. He married Jacquetta Audine Collier on May 23, 1953 at Wichita Falls, TX and later that year joined the Oklahoma National Guard, serving his county honorably during the Korean War. The family eventually moved to Tulsa, OK, where he worked as a trim carpenter for 46 years before making his home at Norman in 2005. He was very competitive and enjoyed fishing, going to the casino, bowling and was a good tennis player. He was an avid sports fan of Tulsa, the Sooners and the Cleveland Indians. Was also a big fan of NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jacquetta on August 13, 2005; a brother, Walter Pope; and a sister, Billie Jean Harris. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Rebecca Pope of Coweta, OK; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Dianne Pope of Tulsa, OK, Michelle and Greg Surber of Wiesbaden, Germany; 2 grandchildren, Amanda and Andrea; a great grandchild, Lariat; other relatives and a host of friends.
