Ruby Fay (Cornwell) Turner was born to Harvey Ross and Nannie Charles (Pierce) Cornwell on September 23, 1920 at Royal, OK and departed this life in Lawton, OK on August 10, 2011 at the age of 90 years, 10 months and 18 days. Ruby grew up in the Pernell, OK area. She married Leslie Henry "Slim" Turner on August 4, 1939 at Pauls Valley, OK. They made their home at Pernell before moving on to Indiahoma, Faxon, and a short stay in Colorado before returning to the Faxon and Chattanooga area. They eventually made their home at Walters in 1969. Ruby was a member of the Church of Christ in Walters. She loved spending time with the family and enjoyed quilting, raising a garden, taking care of her flowers and watching the cars go by. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Slim on May 17, 2005; 3 brothers, Charlie, George and Wayne Cornwell; 2 sons-in-law, Bill Fowler and Jim Woods; and 2 grandchildren, Preston Hopkins and Cheryl Woods Rash. Survivors include 3 daughters, Mildred Woods of Hastings, OK, Norma Flores and husband Silvestre of Ryan, OK, Loretta Dunbar and husband Terry of Walters, OK; 2 sisters Zetta Hampton of Phoenix, AZ and Betty Presti and husband John of Auburn, WA; 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
