Viola Louise McCalip

Viola Louise McCalip was born to James Richard and Loena Mable (McDowell) Gatlin, March 1, 1934, at Anadarko, OK, and departed this life August 9, 2011, at Temple, OK, at the age of 77 years, 5 months, and 8 days. She was married to Richard McCalip for 49 years and had 3 wonderful kids, Cherry, Mike and Connie. She has spent the last 12 wonderful years in Temple, OK, with best friend, Louis McGee. Viola was a mother, grandmother and homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, baking, reading and dancing. She loved spending time with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her husband, Richard McCalip on October 31, 1998; a son Richard Michael McCalip; a daughter Connie Askins; 4 brothers and a sister, James, Eugene, Edward and Willard Gatlin, and Wanda Waldrop. Survivors include a daughter, Cherryl Jones of Oklahoma City; 2 granddaughters, Shelly Ward and Stephanie Emery; 5 great grandchildren; her best friend and companion, Louis McGee; other relative and a host of friends.
