Sammie Azalee (Turner) Bradfield Briley was born to John Presley and Mary Alice (Thompson) Turner on March 26, 1918, in the Cashion, TX community and departed this life at Bryson, TX on May 26, 2011 at the age of 93 years, 1 month and 10 days. She grew up 8 miles west of Walters, attending school at Pecan Grove. She married Paul Edmond Bradfield on December 27, 1933at Oklahoma City. To the union 4 children were born and the family moved around with the oilfield. Paul passed away on November 3, 1946. Sammie later married Donald James Briley on June 30, 1947 at Lawton, Oklahoma and they moved with the oilfield as well. Sammie made her way to Wyoming and later returned to the Oklahoma City area in 1991. She eventually moved to Lawton, Walters and Wichita Falls before moving in with her granddaughter near Bryson, TX. She was a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star and for the past few years had been a member of the Bryson Seventh Day Adventist Church. She enjoyed doing embroidery, dressing up and going out to dinner, and of course bragging on her grandkids and great grandkids. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Paul and Donald; her daughter, Mary V. Robinson in 2006; her parents; a brother, John Presley Turner, Jr.; 2 sisters Barbara Webb and Dora Allen Milwood. Survivors include 2 sons, John Y. Bradfield of Austin, TX and Daniel E. Bradfield and wife Katheryn of Kemp, TX; a daughter Paula Robbins and husband Eugene of Yuma, AZ; a sister, Vivian Barbe of Walters, OK; 11 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren.
