Samuel Wallace "Sam" Maxwell was born to Edgar A. and Katie (Davis) Maxwell at Gowan, OK, December 11, 1921, and departed this life at Lawton, OK, April 3, 2011, at the age of 89 years, 3 months and 22 days. Sam grew up in the McAlester area and married Billie Green July 21, 1941. He was drafted into the U.S. Army during WWII and later re-entered the service in the Navy Sea Bees. He was stationed in San Diego, CA, for several years. After his military service he returned to McAlester where he worked as an electrician 50 years including owning and operating OK Electric in the early 1970's. He retired in 1995 and has enjoyed working on his ranch, fishing and dancing. Sam was member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Union 584 for 69 years. He enjoyed fishing, dancing and ranch work. He was also a member of the VFW and the First Christian Church in McAlester. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one brother, Leo Maxwell; 2 sisters, Lois Barkhurst and Doris Charters. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Paul Reece; two grandchildren, Brent and Brandon Reece; three great grandchildren, Colton, Kiley and Parker Reece, all of Walters, OK; other relatives and friends.
