Howard "Johnny" Brownwell Johnston was born to Porter and Lina May (Whittenburg) Johnston on July 4, 1927 in Burleson, Texas and departed this life in Lawton, Oklahoma at home with his family on February 21, 2011 at the age of 83 years, 7 months and 17 days. Johnny grew up in Topeka, Kansas and joined the Army after graduating from High School. He was in WWII during his time in the military. After the military he worked for a T.V. repair shop before opening his own shop. Later he opened Johnny's Repair repairing refrigerators and window air conditioners. He married Erika Romer on December 9, 1961 in Lawton, OK. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading and square dancing. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Rolf Romer; and 4 brothers, Ralph Johnston, Bill Porter Johnston, Jim Johnston and Bob Johnston. Survivors include his wife Erika Johnston of the home; two daughters, Susan and husband Randy Perry of Colorado Springs, CO and Grace Stubblefield of Lawton; a daughter-in-law, Deanna Romer of Temple, OK; a brother, Wesley Johnston of Lawton; two sisters, Helen Johnston of Kansas and Nettie Johnston of Kansas; 8 grandchildren, Hope and husband Anthony LeBarre, Faith and Mike Tabako, Elisa and Robert Samuelson, Brandy and Nick Hunt, Howard Perry and wife Chrissie, James Perry, Jennifer Ritter and Lydia Siven; 7 great-grandchildren, Charity Tabako, Austin LeBarre, Brandon Chaat, Colton Ritter, Hawk Ritter, Dean Ritter and Emmitt Siven; an honorary granddaughter, Danielle Fields; special friends, Johnny Malt and wife Anna; and many other relatives and friends.
