Jimmy Don Davenport was born to Doyle L. and Betty Ruth (McKeever) Davenport on May 6, 1945, at Marlow, OK and departed this life in Lawton, OK on February 3, 2011, at the age of 65 years, 8 months and 28 days. Jim grew up in the Hollis, OK area until the family moved to California. He also lived in Canada before returning to the Lawton area. Through the years Jim served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy for 10 years and then went to work for the State of Texas as a correctional officer for 8 years. He moved to Cotton County in the early 1990's and eventually moved to Temple, OK, in November of 2000. He enjoyed his animals and going horseback riding. He was an outdoorsman and loved fishing, camping, boating and swimming. He enjoyed story telling. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother Alfred, and a sister Lovena Brett. Survivors include his wife Ruth of the home; 2 daughters, Karyl Marlene Bowers and husband Doug of Marysville, MI and Donna Marie Dutton and husband Wayne of Hurst, TX; 6 step-children and their spouses, William R. Johnson of Lawton, OK, Donna Ruth and Ralph Herring of Ft. Wayne, IN, Dianna Lee Johnson of Temple, OK, Marcus and Michelle Johnson of Escondido, CA, Joseph J. Johnson of Norwalk, CA, and Johanna Marie Johnson of Oklahoma City; a brother David L. Davenport and wife Becky of Duncan, OK; a sister Patricia Ferguson of Sierra Vista, AZ; 31 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends.
