Dorthy Lucille "Lou" Collins was born, the first daughter and third child, to Alvis "A.V." and Jessie (Daniel) Vardell in Walters, Oklahoma on November 29, 1938 and departed this life in Walters, Oklahoma on January 7, 2011 at the age of 72 years, 1 month and 9 days. Lou grew up in and attended school at Walters, OK. She eventually became involved in nursing and worked as a CNA at Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Walters with her mother and her mother-in-law, Blanch Collins. She later began doing home health as she sincerely enjoyed caring for people. She married Lee Roy Collins in Wichita Falls, TX in October of 1957. Lou enjoyed family gatherings, yard sales and going to restaurants for coffee and tea. She was a member of River Ministries in Canadian, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Johnny "John Earl" Vardell; an infant sister, Louise Vardell; two nephews, John Allen Vardell and Dustin Davidson; a brother-in-law, Ronnie Ogletree. She leaves on earth to carry on her legacy her husband of the home; three daughters, Pamela Kay Green Dorman and husband Cary of Walters, Teresa Ann Matthews and husband Danny of Canadian, TX and Dorothy Scott and husband Bill of Eagle Pass, TX; three sisters and their husbands, Kay and Norman LeBarre, Jane and Bobby LeBarre all of Walters, Sherry and Tommy Acrey of Lawton; three brothers, Jackie Vardell, Howard Vardell and wife Jo all of Walters, Jimmy Vardell and wife Kay of Ponder, TX; six grandchildren, T.J. and Brandon Green, Niechelle Grubbitz, Ivory Collins, Sara and Aaron Gilley; 5 great grandchildren, Ben and Tatum Grubbitz, Ethan and Emily Green, and Alexia Holt; many other relatives and friends she made throughout her life.
