Johnny Hawkins was born to James (J.D.) Delter and Maud (Wilburn) Hawkins in Walters, Oklahoma on October 5, 1926 and departed this life in Walters, Oklahoma on December 27, 2010 at the age of 84 years, 2 months and 22 days. Johnny grew up in the Lincoln Valley community northeast of Walters, OK, where he attended school. He did some farming in California before he returned to Walters to farm. He started as a service attendant at a gas station and worked his way up to owning a couple of service stations in the Norman, OK area. He married Dolores Jean Trest on December 22, 1947 in Lawton, OK. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Walters. He enjoyed to hunt and go fishing and loved animals, especially his dogs. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Hawkins in 2009; a daughter, Debra Hawkins; 2 brothers, Jim and Marion Hawkins; 2 half brothers, Melvin Hawkins and Clarence Neal, 4 sisters, Margie Carpenter, Louise Cummings, Edith Malone and Jessie Daniel; and a half sister, Roxie DeVine. Survivors include a son Johnny Hawkins Jr. of the home; a granddaughter; 4 step-grandchildren; 2 great-granddaughters; 10 step great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
