Mildred Louise (Hoover) Kerr was born to William Elmer and Minnie Cordelia (Inkelbarger) Kerr on August 31, 1919, at Grandfield, OK and departed this life in Harrah, OK, on December 11, 2010, at the age of 91 years, 3 months and 11 days. Mildred grew up southwest of Grandfield attending Pleasant Mound Baptist Church and Fort Auger School through the 8th grade. She then attended Grandfield High School graduating in 1937 and went on to graduate from Cameron College and Central State Teachers College. She taught school at Fort Auger in 1941and on June 1, 1942, she married Wesley Horace Kerr at Ayer, MA. From 1942-1945 they made their home in Ft. Worth where Mildred worked at McDonald Douglass Aircraft Manufacturing. They returned to Oklahoma and she taught at Sage School near Grandfield from 1945-1947. She then worked as a farmer wife and homemaker while the kids were babies from 1947 to 1951 when she began teaching at Temple High School. Mrs. Kerr retired in 1981 after 30 years at THS teaching business accounting, typing and shorthand. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Temple. She enjoyed reading, studying her Bible and nature. She was preceded in death by her brothers and 4 brothers and sisters. Survivors include a son John Wesley Kerr and wife Linda Kay of Jones, OK; a daughter, Mary Louise Kerr of Allen, TX; 3 grandchildren, Laura Bickel and Lisa Imlay both of Jones, OK and John David Kerr of Edmond, OK; 3 great grandchildren, Andrew Wesley Grant, Sarah Louise Grant and Abigail Pearl Grant; other relatives and many friends.
