Jerry Wayne Daugherty was born to James Oscar "Jim" and Vivian Ogethel "Sam" (Callicott) Daugherty in Grandfield, Oklahoma on February 24, 1936 and departed this life in Lawton, Oklahoma on November 29, 2010 at the age of 74 years, 9 months and 5 days. Jerry grew up in the Apeahtone area and graduated from Apeahtone School in 1953, then enlisted in the U.S. Navy. During his service he was stationed in Cuba, Spain, San Diego, Connecticut and Florida where he was the sailor of the year. He married Elizabeth Ann Booher in Frederick, OK on June 18, 1960, and to the union three children were born; Vicki, Kelly and Mark. After his service in the military he opened a heat and air shop in Walters, worked at a nuclear test site in Las Vegas and was a Whirlpool salesman in Walters. He enjoyed fishing, planting trees and gardening. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Vicki Daugherty and a brother, James Daugherty Jr. Survivors include his spouse, Elizabeth Booher Daugherty of Walters; a son, Mark Daugherty and wife Jennifer Collier of Walters; a daughter, Kelly and husband Nick Simon of Walters; two sisters, Dorothy Maitlen of Weatherford, TX and Trecyl and husband Marvin Scherler of Walters; five grandchildren, Cierra and Samantha Daugherty, Ashton Spence and Rachael and Dylan Simon, and many other relatives and friends.
