Ida grew up in the Deep Red Creek community near Randlett, OK. where she attended school in a one room school before graduating from Union Valley High School in 1931. She married Joseph "Joe" Dial Kerr Jr. on October 13, 1933 at Frederick, OK and they made their home in the Union Valley community before moving to Walters, OK then to Burkburnett, TX. She was a graduate of Oklahoma A&M and Southwestern State University. She taught school at Lone Star and Union Valley schools eventually moving to Burkburnett where she retired from teaching after many years. She was a long time member of Union Valley Baptist Church, Cookietown, OK before moving her membership to First Baptist Church, Burkburnett, teaching Sunday School until the age of 87. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Kerr on August 23, 1992; three brothers, Ed Eschler, Bill Eschler and Dan Eschler; and two sisters, Ella Watts and Edna Adams. Survivors include a son, Walter Don Kerr and wife Sharon of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; two daughters, Lois Marie Kinney and husband Frank of Walters and Nancy Carolyn Klinkerman of Burkburnett, TX; a sister, Flora Bowles of Temple, OK; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; a great-great granddaughter and many other relatives and friends.
