Raymond Lee Dye was born to Douglas Jerome and Jacqueline Kay "Jackie" (Hewitt) Hill on April 2, 1968 in Wichita, Kansas and departed this life in Elgin, Oklahoma on July 19, 2010 at the age of 42 years, 3 months and 17 days. Ray grew up in Sterling until moving to Geronimo in the seventh grade. He married Barbara Diane Burk on September 5, 1986 at Geronimo and to the union 2 children, Dustin and Morgan, were born. They made their home at Geronimo and was a police deputy for the Geronimo Police department. They built a house in the Marlow Central area where the family lived for 3 years until building the current house west of Elgin. He was Lieutenant for the Lawton Fire Department for 17 years. He received an Associates degree in Municipal Fire Protection and an Associates degree in Police Science and Business Management from OSU OKC. He was co-owner of Sooner Plaza and Pride Fitness in Elgin. Growing up Ray enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, wrestling and was a black belt in Karate. He was a member of the Wichita Mountain Tour Club and enjoyed riding his Harley and working out. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carl and Florene Hewitt. Survivors include his mother Jackie Hendrick and husband Gerald of Geronimo; his son and daughter-in-law, Dustin and Adriana Dye of Elgin; his daughter, Morgan Dye also of Elgin; his granddaughter, Khloe Dye of Elgin; three brothers and their spouses, James Dye and Kitty of Gadsden, Alabama, Kenny Dye and Bobbie of Geronimo and Delbert Dye and Laura of Lawton; six nieces and nephews, Jacqueline, Veronica, Loretta, Carl, Brittany and Dewayne and many other relatives and friends.
