Lena Lamoine (Meaders) Phillips was born to Thomas Vester and Leitha (Green) Meaders on August 13, 1928, north of Corum, OK and departed this life in Oklahoma City, OK, on July 10, 2010, at the age of 81 years, 10 months and 27 days. Lena grew up in the Grandfield, OK, area and the Wichita Falls area of north Texas, until coming to Walters for her junior and senior years, graduating in the class of 1945. She married Ferrell F. Phillips on December 8, 1945, at the Baptist parsonage in Walters. He preceded her in death on December 10, 2002. Lena worked as a seamstress at the Haggar slacks factory in Temple, OK, for 24 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Walters for many years. She has made her home in Mustang, OK, for the past 5 years where she joined the Chisholm Heights Baptist Church and has been active with the ladies quilting group. She was preceded by her parents; husband, Ferrell; 3 brothers, Connie, Truman and Wayne Meaders; and 1 sister, Mattie Colyer. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Buddy Poindexter of Mustang, OK; her son Dean Phillips of Oklahoma City; 2 grandchildren, Jennifer Gayle Phillips of Oklahoma City and Clayton Rex Phillips of Tuttle, OK; other relatives and many friends.
