Floyd D. "Gran Gran" Norman was born to J.P. and Verna Magness Norman on April 11, 1917 at Temple, OK and departed this life on May 15, 2010, in Muskogee, OK, at the age of 93 years, 1 month and 4 days. Floyd was raised in and attended school in the Gregg Community, graduating from Temple High School in 1936. He married Edith Head on August 7, 1937 in Lawton, OK and to the union one child, Loretta Norman Gilliss was born. They were married 72 ½ years. They farmed near Temple until retiring in 1987, making their home in Walters. In 2005 they moved to Oktaha, OK, to live with their daughter and son-in-law, Jerry and Loretta Gillis. He was a member of Walters First Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for over 50 years. They loved to travel and took many trips in their beloved motor home, including trips to Alaska, New England states, Florida, California, and many trips to Ohio to visit friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Edith on February 21st of this year, his parents, brothers Roy and Marvin Norman, and a granddaughter Gerri Yarbor. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Loretta and Jerry Gilliss; 4 grandchildren, Kathy and Ronnie Ables, Kenny and Debbie Meyer, Tommy Meyer and Amanda Gilliss; 3 step grandchildren, Daniel Gilliss, Lynn Gilliss, Pam and Chuck Cale; 13 great grandchildren; 18 great-great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Glen and Audine Norman; a sister-in-law, Nadine Booher; 4 nieces, 2 nephews and many special friends.
