Carl Franklin Bigford was born to Lester Leanis and Icey Bendy (Walker) Bigford in Cotton County, Oklahoma on April 26, 1935 and departed this life in Wichita Falls, Texas on February 22, 2010 at the age of 74 years, 9 months and 27 days. Carl grew up in the Taylor Store community of Cotton County, Oklahoma. Throughout his 50 year carpentry career he worked mainly in the Burkburnett, Texas area. He moved back to the Taylor Store community in 1996. Carl married Francis Louise (Keck) Oxford on February 14, 1997 in Walters, OK. He enjoyed fishing, dancing, raising chickens, gardening and picking on kids. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Virgil Shelton; a step-son, Jim Edd Oxford; four brothers, Earl, David, Johnny and Lester "Shorty" Bigford; and a sister, Nona Bartley. Survivors include his wife Francis Bigford of the home; 3 sons, Melvin Davis of Ft. Worth, TX, Rick and Mike Shelton both of Tishomingo, OK; two daughters, Linda Dickey and Sherry Marie Hughes both of Duncan, OK; a step-daughter, Anna Oxford of Wichita Falls, TX; a brother, Bill Bigford of Cookietown, OK; two sisters, Gracie Jans of Burkburnett, TX and Betty Litteken of Iowa Park, TX; 23 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
