Jessie "Granny" Vardell was born to Luke Medford and Hattie (Jones) Daniel on October 9, 1916 in Lawton, Oklahoma and departed this life in Walters, Oklahoma on February 10, 2010 at the age of 93 years, 4 months and a day. Jessie married Alvis (A.V.) Vardell on March 16, 1935 in Walters, OK. and they made their home in Walters and to this union 9 children were born. She enjoyed quilting, family gatherings and the wheat harvest. Jessie worked as a nurse's aide at the Parkview Manor Nursing Home until she was 80 years old. Throughout her life she came to know many friends, and they were very dear to her. But her family was her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvis (A.V.) Vardell; an infant daughter Louise Vardell; a son John Earl Vardell; a son-in-law, Ronnie Ogletree; two grandsons, Dustin Davidson and John Alan Vardell; a brother, Lelon Daniel and three sisters, Marie Zachary, Era Stephens and Mary Ethel Daniel. Survivors include three sons, Jackie Vardell of Walters, Howard Vardell and wife Jo of Walters and Jimmy Vardell and wife Kay of Ponder, TX; four daughters, Lucille and husband Lee Roy Collins of Canadian, TX, Kay and husband Norman LeBarre of Walters, Jane Ogletree of Walters and Sherry and Tommy Acrey of Lawton, OK; two daughters-in-law, Connie Vardell of LePorte, TX and Louise Vardell of Temple, OK; two sisters, Doris Hales of Del City, OK and Ellen Jones of Albuquerque, NM; 23 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends.
