Ralph Homer Zachary was born to Joe Dallas and Beulah Alice (Neeley) Zachary on May 14, 1926, northeast of Randlett, OK, in the Union Valley Community and departed this life in Temple, OK, on January 8, 2010, at the age of 83 years, 7 months and 25 days. Homer grew up at Union Valley where he attended school until the family moved just west of Temple, OK, where he attended high school, graduating from THS in 1944. He began working at B&O Cash Store in Temple and then the IGA at Walters before going to work for Civil Service. He retired on December 30, 1989, after a 30 plus year career at the Fort Sill Commissary and Finance Department. Through the years he was also engaged in farming and loved raising cattle and chickens. Homer was a member of the Church of Christ and was the song leader for many years. He also loved and enjoyed little children. He was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers, Allen, Fred, Leslie, Louis and Howard Zachary; 3 sisters, Roxie Smith, Thelma Jenkins and Gladys Shrader; brothers-in-law, B.B. Smith, C.E. Robertson, Alvin Shrader and Curly Jenkins; sister-in-law, Jewell Zachary; niece, Judy Prough; nephews, Bob Smith and Warren Lee Jenkins; nephew-in-law, Bill Wiley; and a great-great niece, Paige Bivans. Survivors include a brother, Harold Zachary and wife Frances of Temple, OK; a sister, Ruby Robertson of Walters, OK; a sister-in-law, Pat Zachary of Vicksburg, MS; nephews, John Allen Zachary and Cecil Zachary and wife Debbie; nieces, Dee Taylor, Sharon Wiley, Carol Graham and husband Larry, Paula Shores and Louise Grooms; Nieces-in-law, Lois Smith and Sue Jenkins; great nephews, Monte Jenkins, Derrick Zachary, Brent Zachary and Clifton Taylor; great nieces, Michelle Bivans and husband Mark, Becky Jenkins, Tandi Parent and Cara Del Taylor; a great-great nephew, Scot Bivans; many cousins, other relatives and friends.
